Acrylic acid, with chemical formula of c3h4o2 and molecular weight of 72.06, is an organic compound, colorless liquid, pungent smell, corrosive and strong acid. It is soluble in water, ethanol, ether, benzene, acetone, chloroform, etc. Melting point 13.5 ℃, boiling point 140.9 ℃, density 1.0511g/cm3. It is chemically active, easy to polymerize in air, and can be reduced to propionic acid by hydrogenation. It is added with hydrogen chloride to produce 2-chloropropionic acid. Used for preparing acrylic resin and other organic synthesis. It is prepared by oxidation of acrolein or hydrolysis of acrylonitrile. It can also be prepared by carbon monoxide, acetylene and water under the action of nickel catalyst.
Colorless liquid. Strong organic acids. It has a pungent sour taste and produces smoke. Needle like crystallization below the melting point. Molecular weight 72.06. The density is 1.0511g/cm3. Melting point 13.5 ℃. Boiling point 141.6 ℃, 122 ℃ (53.329 × 103Pa）、103.3℃（26.664 × 103Pa）、86.1℃（13.332 × 103Pa）、66.2℃（5.333 × 103Pa）、48.5℃（2.000 × 103Pa）、39℃（1.333 × 103Pa）、27.3℃（0.667 × 103Pa）。 Flash point 54 ℃. Refractive index 1.4224. Soluble in acetone and benzene, miscible with water, ethanol and ether. Corrosive, chemically active, unstable, easy to polymerize with oxygen. Hydroquinone or methoxyhydroquinone and other polymerization inhibitors can be added during storage.
